The CGI & other effects that represent the evil are unrealistic. The characters were one dimensional stereotypes & cliches etc. It wasn't scary & there was poor character development. I had such high expectations after Nightcrawler & because Jake & Toni are so talented, but this was poorly written, childish & dull. The trailer basically shows the entire film plot, all the best bits & makes it look like an interesting, well acted, alternative horror in the same vein as films like Hereditary & some of the weird A24 films that are dark & unusual. I wish I had scrolled down and seen more comments. In general I DO admire people who bring creativity to the world though. Its funny how some people make their living pretending to be ''right' and 'know better'. Its funny how opinions from certain people, transition into the masses and then become fact - whereas ultimately wether one likes art is always just an individual opinion.
YOUTUBE ENOLA GAY SMOKE MOVIE
What came to mind while watching the movie is that the art industry revolves around who can make up the biggest extravagant bullcrap and oversell it. His character was quite interesting because of it. Jake pulls off the gay-acting art critique very well - he added his own twist to it.
Cool movie! There's just something so creepy about moving eyes in a painting! I think I finished up the majority of the horror department on Netflix, but these paintings seriously creeped me out.
